Achaemenica is a reading site. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies, runs no third-party analytics, and asks for nothing to read any article.
What is collected
Nothing is collected from you simply for reading. There are no analytics or tracking scripts on the site, and no advertising. The only personal information the site ever receives is what you choose to type into the discussion or contact forms, described below.
Cookies and local storage
The site sets no cookies of its own. It uses your browser's local storage for a single thing: to remember whether you have chosen light or dark mode, so the choice persists between visits. That preference stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser storage removes it.
Discussion and contact
If you post on an article's Discussion tab, the name and comment you enter are stored and shown publicly on that page. If you use the contact form or write by email, the message and any name or address you supply are used only to read and act on what you sent, and are not shared or used for anything else. Please do not include sensitive personal information in either.
Images and external links
Article images are loaded from Wikimedia Commons and requested anonymously, so no cookie is set by loading them. Links to external sites are the responsibility of those sites, which have their own privacy practices.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical request data (such as your IP address) transiently to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse; it is not used to build any profile of you. The discussion and contact forms are handled by a small serverless function on the same platform.
